Yes, I know I've spent the whole day surfing the web - even though my boss is back. But hey it's Friday & maybe I can get off not doing anything for the next 4 hours so I can go home & enjoy the weekend (#9).

Alas... You're Fired!

I fired my pre-paid legal team (and by that I mean I unsubscribed from payroll deductions). I decided - it's not worth fighting the ticket & besides I was speeding. If this was Toronto I'd totally fight it - but here things are a little different & it would be quite risky to go to trail. That's why they have this whole "traffic school" thing, which bascially discourages people from going to court for speeding tickets. It cost me $24 to the court & probably $35 to the school - but I figure it's better than paying $14/month for legal services - which in the end will probably result in me having to do traffic school anyways. So that is that!

Well big boss isn't here yet... so I'm gonna take SARS's advice & start my PEY final report. Then I can laugh at people when I'm done & they are working on it. Ha ha. At least it'll be one less thing to worry about at the end of the year.

I should also start studying for my PDE course a little bit more & I also got to contact a thesis prof & find a laptop & fix my bumper & damn, so much more. Well, one thing at a time - first let's start this report.

Bored at Work Again.

Don't wanna study. Don't want to surf the web (anymore). So I'll write random thoughts.

1.) God Damn! I can't believe Ishe lost!

2.) I really need to start looking into laptops - well, it can wait since I'll only have $$$ once I sell my truck.

3.) Damn, I need to repair my trucks bumper from good old Crater Lake - Damn that was a horrible f*ckin weekend! Lost like probably a freakin grand on stupid shit!

4.) I should really call the courts & try to scam a court trial near my house. Otherwise, I should just do the traffic school crap & cancel my stupid ethical corporate lawyers. Dump sh*ts! p.s. When dealing with legal stuff - NEVER, I repeat NEVER, give more information than required!! Dumbass Gaj might have accidentally request traffic school w/o attempting the Court Trail thing.

5.) Maybe, I'll surf that hi5 crap.... nothing better to do?

6.) I need to book my flight ticket - but I don't know what the hell is going on in July. I'm definitely doing the Truck Delievery thing - unless same thing else comes up. Because thinking about it... I could totally do other shit during the week - like check out Northern Cali - the redwood trees (the kind you drive through), PCH north of SF, the beaches, Crater Lake in the summer & hike around the top, the Lava (volcanic) fields, maybe salt lake city? (nah - that's too far), Mount Shasta (the rasta - what!). Or the Grand Canyon.

Only problem is I could easily blow a couple grand doing all that stuff on my own. I'd need a wingman / wingwoman to do that stuff too. I'd be kind retarded talking to myself along said journey.

Maybe, I'll see how much $$ I make from the delieveries & I can always take it from there.

7.) Shit, I'm bored. And I kinda wanna sleep. Lunch in a 1/2 hour - maybe go home, wash the dishes & shave? Crap I have school tonight too. Don't wanna go.

Laptop Mayhem...

What the hell man! When did buying a laptop becoming confusing?? And I'm supposed to be a semi-tech nerd!?! Now you have all this Centrino, Hyperthreading, 64-bit processing crap!

Can someone just write a frigin article saying which one is best!! None of this, "Centrinos preform to the capacity of P4-M w/ HT minus 500 MHz". WTF?!?

Went to Bed Crying Last Night :(

Ishe Smith's Out! Why, Ishe? WHY?!? Damn it!! I can't believe it! (Lost yet? I'm talking about "The Contender".) Ishe was the best fighter in my eyes. (And he kinda looked like Sage - lol, that's another story). He had the attitude, that slight cockiness, the busy mouth. Kinda reminded me of myself sometimes (lol, usually after a couple drinks).

Anyhow, Jesse that wuss couldn't call Ishe out himself - instead he calls the "Latin Snake" to fight 'em. And Ishe lost - not to the L.S. but to himself. He psyched himself out... he got frustrated, lost his concentration. NO, ISHE!! I want you to take it to the END! Oh well, that's life. It sucks that losers like Manfredo & Ahmed got a second change (manfredo yes - Ahmend, WTF!). Why couldn't Ishe get a second change. Oh, well. Life's not fair - deal with it.

At least the L.Snake seems like a decent dude & now he's in the final 4. And so is GOMEZ!! What! That little mexican dude! Sick fighter, SICK!! Now I'm ruttin for the L.Snake or GOMEZ! (Although Ishe is the only one who BEAT GOMEZ back in 2000. But whatever!).

Contemplating Hustling Along the PCH.

So another weekend wasted. Took a nap saturday, followed by a few beers in Frisco - followed by a lazy Sunday. After a hardy meal at good old Denny's - the weather started looking better (sun came out & shit).

So we took a drive from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz, along Hwy 1 (PCH). The ocean & cliffs were sick! Even stopped off at one of the many costal state beaches... took a little stroll on the sand. The waves were sick! The cliffs were sick, as were the mountains & the caves on the beach (remember that Cave in Baywatch?? There was one pretty similar to that).

Then driving back, I started the thinking... about life & $$$ and hustling. As long as I can remember, I've always been hustling. Trying to find the easy way out - the fast way - quick money - shortcuts - back door holes.

Then I started wondering is it all worth it? I mean, often times I win... but then often times I lose. So do I just break even in the end? Is it worth all the risks? Okay, it's a well known fact that I'm a risk taker. No Guts No Glory right?

But in the end do I profit? Greed is definitely a pitfall for a lot of people - even me. Last year, I had an offer for my bike of $3200 - if I sold it then I would have had $500 extra. Remember that f*cker shawabe from Malven I was hustling with him & he ended up falling off the face of the earth & ripped me $500 worth of profits. I'm fighting this traffic ticket - but paying $14 a month of legal services.

So in the end do I break even? Belinda used to say that I only look at the bad - it's true. I'm not an optimist - but I think I'm more of a realist. But it's true because I can never shake the bad from my head & am so easily dismiss the good.

I don't know... this is just a random rambling on my part. But one thing is for sure, I won't know how to live by the book - it's just a mentally that I've learnt over the years. Then again I used to think the same about my temper issues - that it couldn't be fixed. Well, this is getting a little personal so I think I shall stop here...

Grrrrr. I dislike ethical lawyers!!

Where the hell do you find lawyers that fight your case regardless of merits. I need to find one or two of them - because as most of you might know, I'm bound to get into legal matters!!!

Okay, so I was speeding. Now I'm in the process of fighting the ticket. A long story short (i.e. point form):

1.) Gaj was speeding on his way to Crater Lake, clocked at 93 mph in a 70 zone (do the math that's like 150 km/h in a 110 zone). Cop pulls me over in a county 4 hours north of my house.

2.) I try the dumb Canadian "who just moved here", role. No play. F**ker gives me a ticket & a Notice to Appear in Court, on the violation of not having a valid CA (cali - not canada) license.

3.) So Gaj is like, I'm gonna fight this shit! Pass my car road test & mail 'em a copy of it. They mail be back saying they need a copy of the card - not the temp sheet. Turns out I don't get the card till I also pass my bike road test.

4.) So I postpone my Appear in Court Date. Then postpone my providing CA license correction & set a Court Date to provide Proof of License on Monday (apr 25th). But I ain't driving out there!! It's frigin 4 hours!!

5.) So I mail a POC (proof of correction) I got from the DMV - which should clear it all.

6.) Now my corporate pre-paid legal team is asking me "why did you plead not guilty?" CAUSE I WANTED TO FIGHT THE TICKET FUCKERS!!!

They are telling me it bad news to fight a ticket in Cali if you don't have proof. The Judge might eliminate the chance of "Traffic School" - which hides points & shit from the Insurance company.

Whatever, I'm gonna fight this shit - either try to reschedule court in my County, or Trial by Written Declaration.

Gaj Doesn't Back Down! I'll either go down fighting or end up succeeding. Let's all cross our fingers & hope for the later.

Another Weekend: Week 10 to be exact

So technically, it's the 10th weekend before I head back home. I kinda have mixed feelings about leaving. I definitely think I'm going to go through "California Withdrawal Syndrome"!!

Last night I kept it low key & hit the gym up this morning. But as I was driving home, I realized something.... Once I leave, I'm never going to see the mountains again!! I mean one of the sickest parts about living in the basin (i.e. silicon valley), is the frigin' mountains. They are everywhere - like completely surround you. And if you can't see the mountains, you see the ocean or bay. How sick is that?!?

If not for the weather, I'd move here for the mountains alone! Today was cloudy (w/ light rain) which is a very rare occurrence, but hey we're technically still in Spring. And it was sick, cause the clouds were just rolling down & over the mountains.

Damn, I'm gonna miss that. F**king stupid flat-assed Toronto! We need frigin mountains. Oh, & not to mention how sick the roads are that run through the many mountain ranges!!

This sucks, cause when I get back to toronto I'm gonna be riding my motorcycle (if I decide to stay) on STRAIGHT roads!! What fun is that!?! And you can't even LANE SPLIT!! GRRRR.

The sickest part of having a bike here is the lane splitting (driving in between lanes/cars, which is illegal everywhere but in California) & the sick twisty turny roads, through the fresh mountain air.

God damn, I'm at ends with this *ish.

Workload Ambush!!!

So I take a break from making tedious measurement. Well, not really tedious since it's a new chip design & can't hurt that it's on the most expensive part we produce(thus far). Each of these parts are worth like $20,000!!!! And I'm holding six of 'em in my hand!!

Anyways, here I am testing these parts by hand. Ideally we wanted to measure them on a test system... but that involves other people (i.e. Not the little department composed of my & my manager). So one dude was suppose to show us how to write the program (i.e. vectors) & another dude to write the program.

So Gaj is taking a water break from these retarded measurements - when all of a sudden program dude calls me. "So I hear there isn't enough test time with you?? I thought we were done?!" I'm like "yeah, that was for our older parts not the new 20G parts". blah, blah, blah... "Vector dude is downstairs... let's talk to him". Gaj - "okay?".

Vector dude's taking to other Administrator dude. And the ambush begins.
"So what do you need??"
gk-"um... i need this from Vector dude & this from Program dude".

"You need to do this & this.." "I've done that, so when you get this come to me with that."
gk-"um... yeah, but what about..."

"Well, yes & no. So yes.. got that?"
gk-"um... okay??"

"So yes, & there - so you have everything undercontrol right?"
gk-"um... okay? but what about..."

"Yeah, just get blah & blah & then go blah!"
gk-"um... okay?"

"Great, it's settled then... you have everything you need to get the job done!"


Long story short... Gaj was ambushed to do everyone's work!! Grrrr - the life of an intern!!! These manager type dudes (Administrator, Vector & Program) cut the middle man (i.e. my boss) & stuck me with this huge project! Grrrr.

Whatever man!!! This is the Year of Gaj! And it's not going to hold me down!!

Later my manager comes in... "yeah, so... if you want to do overtime & get these parts done - it's cool." I'm like "okay, cool." Thinking that's cool - my boss isn't pushy - flows with the wind, so it's all good. I'm like "yeah, so did you take to Administrator dude??" "Grrr. Yeah, whatever, don't worry about them - they gave me crap too". lol - glad to know I'm not the only one who got ambushed!!

Oh well... Looks like I'm gonna miss class today!! But should I go home for the O.C.??? I would: IF I HAD SEEN LAST WEEKS!!! GRRRR - stupid VCR!

Maybe I'll just let the VCR record it - until I get the episode from SARS. (Dear SARS, you'd better read this & post the O.C. for me - grrrrr.) But only when you have time - p.s. good luck on exams.

So dude comes over to my house to by my motorcycle (in Toronto). I know this dude is itching to by the bike, he emailed me 100 times, talked about how the bike looks so nice, if it sounds good he'll drop like $2600-2800, blah, blah, blah.

Lesson 1: NEVER reveal how much you are willing to pay.

So after a close call with my dead / dying battery, I finally get the bike started & the dude to come over to check out the bike. He already knew someone else offered me $2500 (i.e. I told him, but I knew that person would try to low ball or negotiate after that - an experience biker).

So then my dad calls me & says that they are offering $2600. And say they "claim" I agreed to $2500. Um NO. Then he puts the dudes' dad on the phone. I say the lowest I'll let it go for is $2700 - which I had agreed on (that's a solid deal, for a good bike!). I'm kinda losing a bit - but I just want to pay off my debts. But hey I still got the spare parts - I can probably sell for $200?

So dude's dad is like - okay, let's meet halfway - $2650. Here most people would crumble. He's like "it's only $50". I'm like "NO! $2700 or leave it & I'll call you back after other people have the opportunity to buy." "But I brought my van & everything... driving back would cost that much gas!" "$2700 take it or leave it".

My dad comes on the phone - he crumbles "pilaye" (child in tamil), it's only $50. I'm like "nope - don't crumble". I'm like put the dude on the phone.

I say "dude, you're the 1st one to look at the bike, you know others are interested too. I'm throwing in the helmet & the manual. And I won't go lower than $2700. I want more - but if you want it now, $2700 is the price." He pauses... consults his dad.

SOLD for $2700. Folks don't mess with the MASTER NEGOTIATOR!!!! Muah-ha-ha-ha!! Man my blood pressure is elevated!! I love a good deal or negotiation! Master Negotiator strikes again.

Damn, I'm kinda sad that I let my bike go for $2700. But hey, I had it for 3 years!! Learnt how to ride. Still have the spare parts... so is that worth $500? I originally bought the sucker for $3200 (I think). If I sell the parts for $200 - I'll have lost 3 bills. Is that worth it?? Oh well, it was the hassle of that bike sitting in my garage.

Besides I can't ride a EX250 anymore. I'm a 600 cc man now! Goodbye bike, I will always cherish you in my heart. Farewell, my dear friend.

Summer Vacation! ** A MUST READ **

What!?! What!?! I'm so frigin' excited!! It just dawned on me this morning!!

So the company lays me off on June 24th. No big deal, especially since they are giving us a $400 allowance for airflight back to Toronto (i.e. we can book our ticket back (or elsewhere) whenever we want!). So for the longest time, I was contemplating what to do??

We have a shutdown the week after the 24th - so I was thinking of doing up SF one last weekend. Then maybe San Diego / Tijuana Mon. to Weds/Thurs, then Vegas Thurs/Fri till Sunday.

But then what....? I wondered! Originally, me & one of my intern buddies (who was planning to take the month of July off) were going to tour SoCal (southern cali) all of July. But yesterday, he told me his boss wants him to stay till July 22nd. Booooooo.

I want to be back in T.Dot (I think that name is so retarded - T.dot. lol), on July 26th - don't know why... just want to. So here I am wondering all week what to do during shutdown & yesterday realizing my buddy wouldn't be joining me & it would be me all by myself (nothing new for Mr. Independent Gaj).

I even tried to call my buddy Mali, in LA - but he says he'll be real busy during the summer (he works at a bank) & will only have time to chill on the weekends.

So... 3 weeks off - friends will only have time to chill on the weekends. Nothing to do Monday through Thursday... what to do????

THEN IT DAWNED ON ME! And one after the other, after the other everything fell together.

Here was my train of thought:

Thought 1: Why not rent a car & tour ALL of California on my own (i.e. Northern Cali, Crater Lake, Tahoe, LA, San Diego, everything)??
Con 1: Although the company will give me a $350 allowance for say a rental car - I'll still be paying a lot of money on gas, food, lodging etc. (Even if I were to live in my car). Plus No showers!

Thought 2: What if I didn't sell my truck & just drove it around on this trip - maybe I could use that $350 to pay for gas & food??
Con 2: Still got to pay for sh*t & my truck will depreciate in value (selling it before 10K miles would keep it under the bumper to bumper warranty - so that's a key selling point - already at 6K).


** AND THIS IS WHERE IT GET'S INTERESTING **

Thought 3: What if I rented a MOVING TRUCK with my $350 allowance!!!

Thought 4: Then what if I did deliveries with this truck for gas money, lodging, etc??

Thought 5: Then I could use the truck to sleep in, I could drive around California, and I would cover expenses from delivery charges.

Con 3 - 5: I'll need internet access to check the www.uship.com delivery site. I'll need the internet to mapquest shit. Maybe internet cafes??

Thought 6: I'll be buying a laptop! And there must me a ton of Wi-Fi HOTSPOTS in California!! Like Denny's for example!!!

Con 6: What if my truck is broken into for my new laptop?

Thought 7: Use my old ghetto (Wi-Fi accessible) $350 CDN laptop. If it gets stolen - oh well, I have a new one at home (home being where the interns stay & people I know in LA).

Thought 8: I could carpool people from the rideshare section of Craigslist for bits of gas money.


So it's settled. After the shutdown, when everyone else goes to work - I'm going to rent a Budget moving truck & make deliveries during the week. And use the delivery money for gas, food & entertainment!!! Maybe even have money to rent cars for side trips on the weekend?? And on the weekends - I'll party hardy like a rock star, in either SoCal or the Bay (most likely SoCal!). Finally, I'll fly out back to Toronto on July 26th.

What!?! The internet will be my friend!! I'll get to see more of cali & make some cash along the way! How sick is this idea???

I'll use the $350 allowance as a start-up cost & from there everything will go on the fly. Don't worry, I'll blog this trip - so you all can keep track of me & make sure some hitchhiker doesn't chop me up! :D

Stupid O.C. money hungry whore!!

Okay, so as we all know I missed last weeks episode of the O.C. So Gaj does something only natural to him (as of this year)... place a post on Craigslist (& yeap I clicked the link to send it out into space - never know if E.T. recorded it!). So after getting several sympathy emails from fellow O.C.ers:

1.) hey. i have the last episode of the oc on an .avi movie file that you can play on your computer. it's DVD quality with NO commercials! i can give it to you on sunday, or if i get an early response by 9am in the morning, i can give it to you by tomorrow afternoon

2.) im going to be leaving my house soon. so if youre still interested, you may have to get it by tomorrow if thats okay with you. if you want, we can meet up at the mall nearest you. it's up to you. if you need proof that the cd really works, you can request that i bring my laptop so that i can show you the quality of the avi movie file. how much are you going to pay though? write back. thanks.

Mirror Lake at Yosemite... wonder how it got that name?

Lower Yosemite Falls! (Can't see the Upper Yosemite Falls - but this falls is supposed to be one of the worlds biggest or something like that).

My Folks in Death Valley - it was a sick time to go because it had a high amount of rain this year (like 4 inches - ha ha). So there were tons of flowers. The cool part was driving through the valley & the flowers changing at different elevations. First it was fields of yellow flowers... that were soon invaded by bright orange bushes (see pic above)... then the fields turned to gold, then purple, and then had patches of red flowers. Pretty sick!

I MISSED LAST NIGHTS EPISODE OF THE O.C.!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This has TOPPED my frigin DAY! GRRRRRR!!!

Life Comes in Patches of Stress & Relaxation!

And right now is a BIG Patch of STRESS!! I don't know where to start! I guess number one is (might as well start point form again)

1.) I'm leaving in 3 months! Less than that even! I have 11 (11 after sunday) weekends left before I offically finish work & start wrapping things up to go back home!

2.) I haven't gotten a hold of my Thesis Prof yet!! I mean I emailed him 2 months ago & we played email tag - then I tried to arrange a teleconference, which he didn't call (maybe I should have called him?). And since then I haven't made another attempt to contact him. I mean, I'm interested in his group - but I don't know what projects or thesis topics he as available!!! Grrrr.

3.) That course at SJSU (PDE's) isn't going so well. I mean, I'm not failing or anything, (got a 78.5% on my midterm - because the prof decided to count our 4 best questions out of 5 - I'm sure a lot of people didn't even do 5 questions grrr). And they were all careless mistakes. Like forgetting a minus sign here or there! Quite honestly, I don't put enough time into studying etc. I still haven't even revised ODE's. I should do that soon, like this weekend or something. I really should start studying hardcore!

4.) Work is getting busy! I tried to get a test system ready for this tedious, long, boring, repeatitive job! But the test system fail to give proper / adequate results! So the last few days I've been MANUALLY testing the system - grrr. Now I need to start another test system on a different tester & see if those results work fine.

5.) My sleep pattern hasn't come back yet. I need to start going to be on time! And I need to stop eating chocolate before bed. I need to start getting back into my good workout routine! But that sucks too because see 6.) below

6.) I strained the tendons in my ankle again! So for the last month or more I haven't been able to run, or cycle, or use the elliptical treadmill! I've been going to physio & it's helped a little - but ONLY a LITTLE! I wish I could run again! I wish I could play pick-up sports the way I used to! But no that stupid time I tore my foot ligaments has scared me for life! Or atleast a very, very long, extended period of time! It's been frigin THREE years now! And just when things start getting better - I strain the tendon again! It's a never-ending cycle!

7.) I wish I had more time to study or revise notes for next year!! But I can't even get the above things in order! Let alone even write in my blog! I hardly have time for that! And boy do I have some intense stories, that I want to write about!

8.) And last but not least. BELINDA! She's stressing me out because I WON'T PUBLICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE that we are together again. Hope this makes her happy. FOR THE RECORD - BELINDA & I are going out again. We are giving our relationship one last go / attempt. We had great times in the past & for some reason or another I screwed a lot of stuff up. So we'll have to wait & see if it works out.

9.) Damn, I was about to end this post - when I realized that I need to replace my bumper on my truck & get insurance for my motorcycle!

10.) God damn, my motorcycle in Toronto won't start! And I was more than half way to selling it to 2 different people! Now it won't fucking start & I've pretty much arranged for the people to come over & take a look at my motorcycle - which was suppose to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION!! GRRR! WTF man! So much Shit going on! Too much to handle - going into overload mood!

Just another patch of stress Gaj, just another patch of stress. They come & they go, they come & they go!

My Bi-monthly Catch Up

So I just got back from a SICK! week off w/ my folks. We did everything... so maybe I'll do my regular point form summary thing.

1.) Picked them up from the SFO airport & dropped of the 30 lbs of food they brought for me in my fridge :D

2.) Then we drove down PCH (Hwy 1 - Pacific Coast Hwy). It was sick man, especially since the mountains were green & all! There were so many places where I wanted to just park the car & run out to the end of the cliffs! We even got to check out the sunseting over the ocean, before turning inland & heading into LA.

3.) Checked out Palm Springs (& started my flatten penny collection - damn it I should have started it in NYC, or Crater Lake!). A flatten penny is this thing were you insert a penny & two quarters... the machine then flattens your penny & inprints a sovineir (sp?) image on one side.

4.) Then we did the "Fashion District", pure clothes & shit for cheeeaap! Especially womens clothing. It had pure fake *ish too, like pursues & jewelry - kinda like china town in NYC.

5.) Good old Las Vegas! Unfortunately, I lost $100 at the craps tables!! Grrr. But our room at the Aladdin was sick!! The washroom had three sections, a toliet w/ private door, a shower, & a sick as bathtub!!

6.) Checked out the Grand Canyon! Wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be.

7.) Left Vegas & drove through Death Valley! Now that was SICK! At one point there was this lake (badwater lake), it's the lowest elevation point in N. America (-282 ft). It was a salt lake - aaaee - I'm too lazy to tell the rest of the story... maybe later.

7.5.) Nearly drove off a snowy cliff on the way to Yosemite - through Sequoia N.P.

8.) Yosemite National Park - sick waterfalls, & snowy mountains.

9.) San Francisco tourist stuff. The fish & chips place on Pier 39 was sick!!

10.) Back at work... grrr - I totally have no drive to do anything!!

God Damn! Google just stole my idea!!! It was mine, all mine!!!

I had this idea that would have been great! I imagined a service that gave you real time maps (satellite maps) of all roads! That way you could check a route before you left & take an alternate route if traffic was congested!! Grrrr... It was my idea! All mine!! Stupid million dollar company!! Damn it! I could have been rich!

I also have a better idea - but I'm not writting about it - just incase blogger has some kind of script that will steal my ideas!! Grrrr.
